Hi everyone. Today we will be talking about areas where students live in unilorin. Generally, most students live in tanke, ilorin. Tanke is the name given to the road that leads to the university.
Oke odo is assumed to be the most populated area at tanke. 60% of the students in unilorin are believed to be staying here. Some say it is just an extension of the university. Oke odo, just like any other area houses hostels of various shapes and designs ranging from flats to self con and a room apartment. Most taxi drivers have made oke odo junction their bus stop because of the number of students staying there.
School gate is the closest area to the University. It is not as populated as Oke odo or any other area but it is always quiet. The advantage of you staying here is that you are few steps away from the University gate.
Mfm & Chapel is another location at tanke that houses students. It is the next area after Oke odo if you are coming from the school. It houses different hostels as well and a considerable option if hostels at oke odo are filled up already.
Sanrab also known as tanke bubu but popularly called sanrab because of the filling station named "sanrab" at the junction. This is where the private owned Unilorin hostel is located. Though some hostels in this area are some how far away from the junction, residents of this area might need to board a bike to convey them to and fro. Sanrab is cool, conducive and serene.
Others include tipper garage, some students stay at challenge others come from Sango, tawio and so on.
However, the price range of these hostels varies, depending on the type of hostel you are interested in. A room apartment might range from 40k-60k while a self con can start from 65k to 150k, flats ranges from 150k to 300k. All these prices are subjected to the facilities in the hostels, location and distances.
